I am a former professional basketball player whose whole life has been centered around all types of fitness.

Once my career ended, I continued to dedicate myself to the fitness lifestyle. In August of 2018, I decided that I would create apparel that reflected my love for fitness. MPower Your Beast is a concept that shows my strength to keep pushing forward despite the many obstacles I have faced. I hope that you would join me on my journey for a more MPOWERing lifestyle.

MY Mission

When I came up with #MPowerYourBeast it was all about strength for me. My story is unique and one of a kind and I am grateful that I am alive to live it. Some days I get down and I do take them for granted but others I smash and make my own! The crown means I am worthy and no matter what I go through, I will continue to hold my head up high! -MelB

MPOWER Your Beast and it’s meaning

I was asked a few times about my scar and normally I talk about it every year for my birthday as a reminder to not take life for granted and to appreciate making it another year but I got sidetracked. My significant other wanted to capture it by photo this time. On Oct. 3rd,1998, my freshmen year of college, I was involved in a car accident, where the person driving lost control of the car and an oncoming truck hit on my side. We were ejected from the vehicle (convertible mustang) and I flew 150ft from the scene and landed in a ditch. The truck that hit us flipped, hit a light pole and landed on me. I broke my pelvic bone in 8 different places and suffered 3rd degree burns across my chest from the muffler. I burned for 45 minutes before I was found and the vehicle was lifted off me. I recovered and was able to continue playing ball, even got a chance to play professionally overseas but in 07 a drunk driver ran a red light, hit the vehicle I was in and that pretty much ended my career due to both knees hitting the dashboard. It's been a very long road for me and yet i'm still here and still at. I hated this scar for a very long time and did not start showing it until 2012. I had to keep reminding myself it could have been my face. I accepted this and dealt with this as well. I'm a trooper and I hope my story encourages at least one person to keep pushing and stay focused cause I tell you what i'm in constant pain but with the smile I keep, you'd never know.... #beautifullybroken #mpoweryourbeast #ScarsAreTattoosWithBetterStories
